On the Qixi Festival, romance is not limited to the sweetness between couples; it also lies in the surprise prepared by the company for its employees. On the afternoon of August 28th, the DIY Siguotang (a traditional Fujian dessert soup with various toppings) buffet, carefully planned by the Administration Department, kicked off warmly in the pantry. With bowls of refreshing homemade desserts, it added a unique touch of warmth to the busy workday.
Before the event started, colleagues from the Administration Department had already arranged the ingredients neatly: translucent adzuki bean jelly balls (Adazi), chewy taro balls, soft and sweet red beans, fresh and refreshing watermelon chunks, as well as more than ten kinds of toppings like grass jelly, coconut jelly, and raisins, all lined up in a row. Paired with three types of bases—honey water, coconut milk, and sour plum soup—the variety was dazzling. Unable to contain their anticipation, everyone came to the pantry one after another to pick their favorite ingredients.
"I want more taro balls, and then pour some coconut milk on top!" "Could you give me a spoonful of grass jelly, please?" The pantry was bustling with excitement. Colleagues who usually focused on work turned into "pastry chefs" at this moment, sharing tips on ingredient combinations with each other. Some preferred the classic "all-topping style," adding a little bit of every ingredient; others pursued a fresh taste, focusing on fruits and grass jelly. Holding the Siguotang they made themselves, people either sat around chatting or went back to their workstations to savor it slowly. As the sweet taste spread in their mouths, tiredness faded away.
This DIY Siguotang buffet not only allowed everyone to feel the festive atmosphere of Qixi but also enhanced communication among colleagues. Many employees said, "We didn't expect the company to prepare such a surprise. The Siguotang made by ourselves tastes especially sweet, and we feel warm in our hearts." A small bowl of Siguotang carries the company's care for its employees and makes this Qixi Festival even more meaningful.
